PLX Inc and Reflex Imaging announce the completion of the acquisition of Reflex Imaging by PLX
PLX Inc. and Reflex Imaging are pleased to announce the completion of the acquisition of 100% of Reflex Imaging by PLX. This acquisition upholds PLX’s position at the forefront of the photonics industry and adds Reflex Imaging’s ground-breaking technology to PLX’s industry leading capabilities in the field of monolithic optics.
PLX assemblies can be found in thousands of major space, military, and commercial applications throughout the world. PLX’s proprietary technologies like the Monolithic Optical Structure TechnologyTM (M.O.S.T.TM), integrates complex optical elements into compact monolithic structures to achieve exceptional accuracy and stability the harshest operating conditions. PLX instruments can be found fulfilling applications in Bore sighting, Beam Alignment and Delivery Systems, Laser Tracking, Military Fire Control, Environmental Monitoring, and Satellite Ranging.
Reflex Imaging brings an expertise of active optics devices, such as scanning mirrors to PLX. Reflex Imaging worked closely with the Advanced Manufacturing research Centre (AMRC) at the University of Sheffield, UK, to develop the Laser Metrology Module (LAMM). This technology was characterized by AMRC as a paradigm shift in industrial metrology. This reputation for expertise led to talks between the two companies.
Peter Hart, co-founder and CEO of Reflex Imaging, commented “We realized, very quickly that there are many synergies between the two companies’ products, people and ideology. Working together our existing laser-guided scanning systems can continue to be developed and enhanced to drive the paradigm shift in industrial metrology in additional fields and markets around the world.” Peter will now head up PLX UK to better serve the European market for PLX products.
A new Active Optics department has been created within PLX’s New York facility to utilize the knowledge and expertise from Reflex Imaging. Malcolm Humphrey co-founder/CTO of Reflex Imaging and Program Director of the Active Optics group said “The opportunity to integrate active optics with the high performance products from PLX enables exciting possibilities that would not have been possible without the acquisition.”
Itai Vishnia, President & CEO of PLX Inc, agrees. "The creation of our Active Optics department is an exciting step for PLX. This will extend our already strong capabilities in optical assemblies into active optics and position us to better solve our customers’ most complex electro-opto-mechanical challenges.”
