PLX Inc. is a precision optics manufacturing company, developing special technologies for Military, Aerospace and Commercial/ Industrial customers, in diverse applications, such as Spectroscopy, Boresighting, laser tracking, military fire control, environmental monitoring and satellite ranging. PLX optics are also extensively used in university research and science labs around the world.

We are looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer. The individual will receive direction from the Director of Operations or the Senior Production Engineer regarding production schedule, methodology of manufacturing. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for improving production efficiency and yield. The individual will perform all necessary tool and fixture designs for both manufacturing and quality requirements with minimum supervision, will interact with in-house manufacturing personnel, as well as vendors, support all tool and fixture fabrication, will support CNC programing methods. They must also have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.

The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

Position Primary Responsibility:

  • Generate and track KPIs for manufacturing performance
  • Release Job Travelers and material to the Shops.
  • Maintain a correct material inventory in Stock.
  • Work in accordance to process procedures, work order instructions, drawings and other production documents.
  • Assist with troubleshooting problems with equipment, devices or products.
  • Maintain equipment. Detect and correct minor machine malfunctions and instruct the Shop employees to perform daily and monthly machine maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe, organized and clean work area.

Required Experience:

  • Good at math with analytical abilities
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
  • Minimum 1year relevant work experience.

Desirable experience:

  • Knowledge of working on CNC and Mastercam software will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP software will be a plus.
  • Machine shop experience will be a plus.
